ISO 29001 Quality Management for the Petroleum, Gas, and Petrochemical Sector

Services in this category ▼

What is ISO 29001? The oil and gas sector is one of the most hazardous in industry. Incorrect handling of dangerous fuels can do irreversible damage to the environment and to people. In this sector, many high-risk production-equipment suppliers operate in countries where environmental and legal frameworks are not fully developed. A standard that brings safety and environmental considerations into a single quality framework was needed. ISO 29001, published by the International Organization for Standardization, was issued to meet that need.

ISO 29001 also covers the pure quality discipline, so it does not require ISO 9001 alongside it. That said, we recommend obtaining ISO 9001 certification in addition.

Who does the standard concern? The standard covers companies producing, supplying, servicing, or providing goods and services connected to the oil sector. Major oil companies require this certificate from their suppliers. It strengthens your hand from a marketing standpoint and helps with efficient resource use and cost reduction.

General information on the standard. The current edition is ISO/TS 29001:2010.
