Good Manufacturing Practices
ICS (Initiative Clause Sociale) is a social responsibility standard published by the French trade and distribution organization (15 large French retail companies) in support of the SA 8000 (Social Accountability 8000) standard.
The standard applies to non-food products in supplier countries. It consists of an independent audit checklist and is audited by third-party independent audit firms.
Audit activity is intense in the French retail sector at present. On that basis, ICS has become one of the largest social responsibility standards in the world.
The core purpose of the ICS Standard Certificate is to audit the supplier firm's general working conditions across social, health, and safety dimensions.
Sections of the Standard
- forced labor
- discrimination
- disciplinary practices
- harassment or abuse
- freedom of association
- working hours, wages, and benefits,
- health and safety
