GMP FEFCO Standard
The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) is a European body founded in Brussels in 1952. Its role is to analyze the economic, financial, technical, and marketing factors that affect the corrugated board packaging industry.
FEFCO has prepared the international cardboard box codes, and corrugated box designs are used widely thanks to these codes.
Under European Union regulations, the GMP FEFCO standard applies to corrugated cardboard manufacturers whose products come into contact with food. It ensures that corrugated cardboard packaging meets the requirements for quality, safety, and hygiene.
GMP FEFCO delivers products made under safety and hygiene controls, gives high protection, and performs strongly across the corrugated cardboard packaging product chain. Corrugated cardboard packaging is an environmentally friendly product.
Tests carried out on corrugated cardboard include grammage, thickness, edge crush, surface crush, burst, puncture resistance, adhesion resistance, water absorption resistance, and bending resistance.
FEFCO has published the corrugated cardboard box types under the International Cardboard Box code.
