REACH Registration and REACH Certificate

What is a REACH Certificate?

"REACH registration" and "REACH certificate" refer to a regulation for the registration and evaluation of chemical substances used in the European Union (EU). "REACH" is the abbreviation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.

REACH is a regulation that governs the process of registering and evaluating chemical substances manufactured in or imported into the EU. This process aims to assess the impact of chemical substances on human health and the environment, reduce risks, and ensure their safe use.

REACH registration is a process that requires authorization for chemical substances produced or imported above a certain quantity. To register a substance, manufacturers or importers must submit information to the authorizing agency, including the chemical's properties, intended use, safety assessment, and risk management measures.

A REACH certificate is a document that confirms a chemical substance has been registered and evaluated in compliance with the REACH regulation. This certificate grants manufacturers or importers permission to freely trade the chemical substance in the EU market.

The REACH regulation aims to reduce the impact of chemical substances on human health and the environment, ensure chemical safety, and protect public health. This regulation has enabled stricter oversight of chemical substances in the EU and promoted their safe use.

Product Groups Subject to Mandatory REACH Registration

REACH registration is mandatory for chemical substances present in certain product groups. These groups include:

  1. Industrial Chemicals: Chemical substances used in industry fall under REACH. This includes chemicals used in industrial applications such as paints, varnishes, solvents, cleaning agents, adhesives, and metal processing chemicals.
  2. Agricultural Products: Pesticides, fertilizers, seed treatment chemicals, and other agricultural chemical products used in the farming sector may require REACH registration.
  3. Consumer Products: Chemical substances present in consumer products may also require REACH registration. For example, chemicals used in consumer products like cosmetics, cleaning products, paints, furniture, and textiles may be subject to REACH registration.
  4. Pharmaceuticals: Certain chemical substances used in the pharmaceutical sector are subject to REACH registration. Active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients used in medicines may require REACH registration.
  5. Electronics and Electrical Appliances: Some chemical substances found in electronics and electrical appliances, particularly those that are hazardous or of concern, may require REACH registration. For example, chemicals used in solder, plastic components, and electronic circuits may fall under REACH.

The product groups listed here are examples only. Since REACH covers a wide range of chemical substances, the groups subject to mandatory registration may be broader. The complete list of chemical substances requiring REACH registration and detailed information can be obtained from the REACH Regulation and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
